Judith MacCallum

Judith MacCallum est née à Montréal en 1935 et y a grandi. Ses premières années ont été influencées par sa professeure, Ethel Seath, du groupe du Beaver Hall. Durant les années 50, elle a suivi les cours d’été à l’université Queen’s de Kingston, avec des maîtres comme André Bieler, Henri Masson, Stanley Cosgrove, etc. Après deux années à l’École des beaux-arts de Montréal, elle a étudié pendant deux années de plus à la Byam Shaw School de Londres, en Angleterre. Durant les années 60, Judith MacCallum a travaillé à la Galerie nationale du Canada comme agente d’information et donné des leçons privées de peinture, ce qu’elle a continué de faire de façon sporadique au fil des ans, de concert avec des travaux d’illustration et de peinture pour son plaisir personnel.

Judith MacCallum was born in Montreal in 1935 and raised there. Her early years were influenced by her teacher, Ethel Seath of the Beaver Hall Group. During the 1950s she attended summer school at Queen's University,Kingston with teachers Andre Bieler,Henri Masson,Stanley Cosgrove, etc. Two years at The Ecole des Beaux-Arts,Montreal, studying with Louis Archambault, Jaques de Tonnancour... were followed by 2 more years at the Byam Shaw School in London, England. During the 1960s MacCallum worked at The National Gallery of Canada as Information Officer and taught painting privately which she has continued to do off and on over the years as well as some illustration work and painting for personal pleasure.
